Quick Facts about 1300 WHALES

Tall Ship Australia who run these whale watching cruises claim to have the biggest boat. I am not sure about that, but the MV 2000 is certainly is pretty big at 32m!

Find out why my English friends think that size does matter!

There are two cruise options, half and full day cruises.

The half day whale watching cruise and full day which includes both whale watching and half a day at McLaren's Landing on South Stradbroke Island.

Whale watching cruises depart daily 1 June to 31 October at 9.00am from Mariners Cove Marina next to Marina Mirage, Main Beach. Whilst the option to go to South Stradbroke Island is a year round activity.

The half day tour returns around 12.30pm. Those on the full day tour get whisked off to McLarens Landing on South Stradbroke Island for a bit of island fun!

Like most tours you need to be there about half an hour before the cruise departs to check-in, board the vessel and get settled.

The office for this cruise is at Mariners Cove next to Marina Mirage. You can either park under Marina Mirage in undercover parking or at Mariners Cove in the open air parking. The office is located next to the wharf at the far end of the open air carpark. It is signposted by A Frame boards as you approach the water.

Once you have checked-in at the main Tall Ship Cruise office you will be ushered to the boat.

The catamaran is easy to find as it is the largest boat on that arm of marina! I haven't been on this whale watching cruise myself, but some friends of mine have. You can read their review of this whale watching cruise.

The 1300 Whales tour is operated by Tall Ship Australia who also run cruises to McLaren's landing on South Stradbroke Island.

The boat used for the whale watching is a catamaran that they use for fast transfers to their South Stradbroke Island retreat called McLarens Landing.

You can combine your whale watching tour with a half day at McLarens Landing on South Stradbroke Island. This is a particularly great way to spend a sunny day and is really good value!

Tall Ship Gold Coast have two tall ships. The Sir Henry Morgan and the Maranoa which they use for a leisurely cruise up the broadwater to South Stradbroke Island for full and half day island adventures.

Bookings are essential especially during peak holiday seasons. You can book your Tall Ships Whale Watching Cruise online here to save time.

Where 1300 Whales Whale Watching Cruise Departs

Map below shows what is around Marina Mirage where the cruise departs from. You can see where the boats are moored approximately. One thing to note is that you must walk down the correct arm on the marina, otherwise you will have to walk all the way back if you get it wrong! You cannot just hop across to the other arm, although it looks like it! This is because there are actually two marinas at Marina Mirage, just to confuse you! Marina Mirage marina is directly behind the shopping centre, whilst Mariners Cove Marina is behind the open air car park.
