Photos of Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast
Photos of Runaway Bay, Biggera Waters and HarbourTown
Runaway Bay is at the northern end of the Gold Coast, just south of Hope Island. Mostly a residential suburb with properties built around canals.

A central location for theme parks and other activities, but still close to the Broadwater.

To the south-east Biggera Waters is on the Broadwater and has apartment style holiday accommodation.

To the north Paradise Point is an up and coming residential suburb.  New island developments connect to the mainland here such as the exclusive Ephraim Island and Sovereign Islands.

Paradise Point has some great boutique cafés and restaurants and a well stocked deli.

Sovereign Island has some of the most expensive real estate in the Gold Coast. All properties are waterfront. Go for a drive and check out the boats on the pontoons.

A limited number of Sovereign Islands homes are available for holiday rental – it’s a great place to base your holiday.  Some come complete with personal assistant and access to all the toys!

Harbourtown is a shopping complex located on the border between Runaway Bay and Biggera Waters.

Harbourtown has a cinema complex, great alfresco dining in cafés, outlet shopping for clothing and other goods including many worldwide brands as well as local Australian brands.
HarbourTown at Runaway Bay has cinemas as well as outlet shops and cafes.

Runaway Bay Area Accommodation

Including Paradise Point, Sovereign Islands, Ephraim Island and Biggera Waters
  • Atrium Resort – 4˝ star 1 and 2 bedroom apartments over the road from the Broadwater.  All apartments are airconditioned. Great facilities including a rooftop pool, spa and BBQ area.  Floodlit tennis court and the fabulous Mano Restaurant underneath.
Click here for more information on Atrium Resort in Biggera Waters & to compare rates.
  • Treasure Island Holiday Park – I wouldn’t normally suggest this but there is a very diverse range of accommodation options from deluxe, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom villas right down to very basic cabins.
The accommodation is set around the Holiday Park’s own attractions and is neither waterfront nor beachfront. It is close to Harbourtown. Well positioned for all the theme parks. Plenty of choice for a variety of family accommodation needs.

The only downside it is a bit noisy being close to a major road.

  • Sovereign Islands Private Holiday Homes – private homes for rent include Aqua Villa, Valencia and Bluewater Villa.

Directions for Car Travel
For directions and other information I recommend you use Google Maps Australia.  This will open in a new window, select the get directions tab and then type in your starting point and where you want to go.  I find the format the easiest to use and follow.
Runaway Bay area not quite what you are looking for?
Other Broadwater suburbs are Labrador and Southport both have great apartment accommodation.

Broadbeach and Main Beach offer luxury hotels and great quality apartments in an ocean beachside setting. Main Beach is not as busy or noisy as Surfers Paradise.

For golfing centred locations, try Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island, Carrara or Robina.
