Deciding between Movie World and Dream World for Young Kids

Which is better for young children Movie World or Dream World?

Our children are 4 and 6. I originally thought that Dreamworld would be the go but now I am starting to wonder whether at this age Movie World would be better. Any suggestions?

That is a tough question to answer! When my youngest was under 8, Sea World was her favourite as the rides were mostly good for her, there was the Sesame Street area, the shows and all the marine animals (dolphins, seals, sharks, fish, touch pool etc).

Sea World attractions are being updated and changed frequently and there seems to be a focus on improving the experience for the kids.

Dreamworld has both what was Nick Kids* and The Wiggles World area which is great for kids in your age group.

Dreamworld also has an Australian animals section, though not that big, with dingo, koala, kangaroos, bilby and reptiles. There are a few shows too, but I don't think I have ever seen a Dreamworld Show because we are always too busy trying to get someone on a ride!

It is quite a large site and certainly seems more spread out than MovieWorld so you will definitely have to plan well if you want to see the shows.

* From 1 July 2011 Nick Central at Dreamworld no longer has the Nickelodeon characters, but the rides and attractions remain.

Most of the big DreamWorld rides would be too big and extreme for your children, you have to be a certain height for those ones.

DreamWorld is right next to Whitewater World, and if you buy a World Pass you can go between the two if you want. It will depend upon the weather and time of the year if you use this.

MovieWorld also has some pretty big extreme rides and also has the kids areas plus some shows. The other drawcard for MovieWorld is the characters, as they have a character parade and the kids may identify with those more. MovieWorld also has a large area undercover to help protect you from rain and sunshine.

It's probably going to come down to which will leave a lasting impression, the Warner Bros characters or The Wiggles?

Sorry I cannot give you a definite answer, but I hope that helps give you a few ideas. If you have any more questions leave a comment below and I will try to answer. Let me know what you decide and when you have been what you thought - that would be really useful.

Cheers

My kids love Dreamworld!!
by: Discount Gold Coast Holidays

If it was me I would go to Dreamworld as there is a much bigger range of rides and attractions for the smaller children. There are the tigers and native animals that all children love and there are quite a few different rides that would be suitable for any age.

No More Nickelodeon Characters at Dreamworld
by: Annie

Just updating this page as Dreamworld no longer has the Nickelodeon characters in the area they used to call Nick Central. I am not sure what they are being replaced with, but the rides remain, just not the names and characters.

When I get more information I will update.
