Now here is the inside running! The Gold Coast in November is brilliant. Well at least until Schoolies week that is!!

Sneak in early in the month for a great beach holiday or do the Theme Parks and miss the crowds!

But beware! If you get your timing wrong you will be sharing it with the graduating schoolies.

It is hot, the water is warm and most of the kids are still at school. You will almost have the amazing Gold Coast all to your self!

November is definitely right up there in terms of best family beach vacation destination at this time of the year!

The photo above shows my husband and eldest daughter on Surfers Paradise beach about 6am one November morning in 1997 on our first family holiday to the Gold Coast. We were there and gone before the crowds and it was absolutely fantastic!

Early in the month you can enjoy a bit of Melbourne Spring Racing fever. The Melbourne Cup known as the race that stops the nation, even stops the Gold Coast for a little while.

We all enjoy dressing up, party frocks, big hats and sipping champers (sorry, sparkling wine!) whilst watching the horses. You are bound to find somewhere to watch the race. Many of the big hotels have functions or charity lunches. Charity lunches are great because you feel you are giving back!

For Visitors from Overseas

Highly recommend accommodation outside of Surfers Paradise during Schoolies Week. Most areas are busy and you will need to book ahead.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games is held bi-annually in the Gold Coast (even years). Events held in various sporting locations across the Gold Coast which are not in the middle of the main tourist areas. You will most likely need your own transport if planning to attend.

Things to do in Gold Coast in November

• Check out Tiger Island at Dreamworld
• Try Chocolate Pudding Fruit at Tropical Fruit World . YES you read that right - and although not quite the real thing, it is pretty amazing and a fruit!
• Dive with the sharks at Sea World
• Enjoy a day trip to the amazing Tangalooma, snorkel on the Tangalooma wrecks or tobogan on the sand dunes.
• Cool down with a day at Wet n Wild water park
• Try the Green Challenge at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary or find out what the animals do at night on the Yanguwah Show and Wildnight Adventure at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
• Swimming between the flags
• Take a day tour to surrounding areas like tour to Byron Bay and Crystal Castle.
• Build sandcastles on the beach at 5.30am!
• Take in an evening show with dinner at Australian Outback Spectacular
• Try body boarding in the surf
• Catch the latest Jupiters Casino and Show - September 2011 No Live Theatre Shows Currently at Jupiters Hotel & Casino as the theatre is closed for refurbishment for a couple of months. In the meantime, check out other entertainment at Jupiters.
