It’s hard to be on the Gold Coast during October and not see evidence of the Gold Coast Indy!

For many weeks before the race itself the areas around the track in Surfers Paradise and Main Beach are being set up.

When the Indy cars finally roll into town you cannot help but feel the FEVER!

Lots of special Indy Carnival entertainment is run in this month, so it’s a great time for a holiday in the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Indy aside - the weather is usually warm and inviting.

Enjoy watersports, beach and surf activities and if it is windy kitesurfing is popular. In the middle of the month the Ironmen and Ironwomen are out competing at the Coolangatta Gold.

It's also a great time to visit the local markets or night markets in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach.

Why not drive up into the hills to visit the art galleries on Mt Tamborine.

Early morning walks along the beach are great with the sun rising earlier and earlier. At the beginning of October it is fully light by 6.00am and by the end of the October it is light even earlier.

Early morning walks are great because the sun is still low in the sky and it is not too hot.

I find these early mornings make great photos with very few people on the beaches, the flat ocean and the sun behind you for some great shots of the Surfers Paradise buildings.

Typical Weather	Hot to warm during the day and nights noticeably warmer. Humidity is still relatively low compared to other times of the year for the area. Little rain. Occasional early summer type storms.

Tips for Travelers to Gold Coast in October

For Australian Visitors

Gold Coast Indy Car Fever! Definitely worth a visit to watch this premier event! Best accommodation for Indy is in Surfers Paradise and Main Beach where you will be close to the heart of the action and vibe during the 4 day carnival.

If Indy isn’t your thing but you want to be on the coast recommend Broadbeach accommodation to the south or Labrador, Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove to the north. Recommend air-conditioned accommodation at this time of the year

For Visitors from Overseas

October is Indy on the Gold Coast! If you are coming for Indy – book early to get the best accommodation and recommend you stay in Surfers Paradise or Main Beach for the total experience. If you prefer a little quieter Broadbeach is a good pick and close enough to easily get to the track.

Indy follows swiftly after school holidays so accommodation is pretty much in peak season until after Indy – and it does get booked up!

Highly recommend luxury accommodation with air-conditioning.

Take a picnic to Springbrook National Park
Art and craft on Mount Tambourine and the most spectacular views
Lunch in Q1 on QDeck for an amazing and unique perspective on the Gold Coast
Whale watching - you are more likely to see calves on a whale watching trip in October than any other month.
