Guided Snorkel Tours In Gold Coast

by Adele
(Canada)

What guided tours are there in Gold Coast. We want to discover the area, see Australian animals and do some snorkelling.

ANNIE ANSWERS
Let's deal with snorkelling first! In my opinion Tangalooma is your best option although if you want to combine with kayaking, there is a kayaking tour that goes around Wavebreak Island in the Broadwater and includes snorkelling.

Tangalooma, is on Moreton Island off Brisbane has wrecks to snorkel on and some brilliant eco tours to see dugongs, turtles, dolphins. Even though the boat you take is from Brisbane, you can day trip to Tangalooma, but staying overnight will give you a better chance to explore the area and enjoy the animals and activities.

There are a couple of options for day tours to Tangalooma and Moreton Bay.

Island Adventure Tour includes

  • High speed luxury catamaran transfers from Brisbane Holt St Wharf

  • Unlimited use of VIP lounge including showers, lockers, lounges as well
as tea and coffee making facilities throughout your day

  • Full Island Buffett lunch offering a variety of foods ranging from
    Asian and Modern Australian influences

  • Desert Safari Tour including sand tobogganing down 150ft sand dunes at
speeds up to 40km per hour - it's exhilerating fun!

  • Presentations and walking tours from the Tangalooma Marine Education
    and Conservation Centre

  • Enjoy over 30 free activities including archery, tennis, squash,
basketball, badminton, croquet, boule, bush tucjer and beach tours

  • Enjoy the use of Tangalooma's facilities including 2 swimming pools.
    pool tables, restaurants and bars

The variation of the tour is Dolphin Feeding experience which incorporates of all the above features plus
  • Dolphin behaviour and data collection activity - learn about data
collection and have an opportunity to collect the data on the Tangalooma
    dolphins before feeding them

  • Dolphin feeding experience - hand feed one of our playful wild
    bottlenose dolphins

A money saving option is if you drive yourself to the wharf in Brisbane, there is free parking. If you have your own car you could save $$$s on transfers by hiring car and driving yourself, but have to be comfortable to drive.

Another alternative is the Dolphin Wild Tours which are boat based on Moreton Bay for the day. Dolphin Wild goes from Redcliffe Jetty about 9:15am and operates during good weather only. Important tips! Remember to bring...
  • swimming apparel

  • comfortable clothing

  • camera

  • beach towel

As well as getting around Moreton Bay Marine Park you will visit the Tangalooma Wrecks (where you can check out the fish and enjoy buffet lunch on board) and it is most likely you will get to see lots of local marine animals such as dolphins, dugongs and turtles.

There is an option to join a snorkel tour or go to the pure white sand dunes.

On the hot days those wanting to try their hand in boom-netting, can get involved in this fun and exciting activity - it is sure to refresh!.

Dolphin Wild cruises operate daily based on weather conditions. Gold Coast hotel transfers start at 7:00am, returning at approximately 5.30pm.

I hope that covers it for you and gives you some options to consider.
