Kid Friendly Hotels in Surfers Paradise Australia

Where are the kid friendly hotels in Surfers Paradise?

Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise Kids Eat Free, but what other facilities make this a good hotel for families?
Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise has a kid under 12 eat free policy, to lure families to stay. But is it the best hotel for families in Surfers Paradise?

Family friendly or rather kid friendly hotels in Surfers Paradise, you'd think they would be a dime a dozen! This is probably one of the biggest disappointments to me with Surfers Paradise. There are only two hotels in Surfers Paradise with kids clubs and there is even a caveat on one of those!

Other hotels in Surfers entice families to stay, with kid friendly deals, but that is the extent of what they do to look after the kids. I guess they assume that you will be out at the beach, on tours or visiting local attractions. And that is partly true, but what if you want the option to have some mum and dad time? Where can you stay in a hotel and still get some great facilities that cater for the kids?

If you want real kids facilities at your hotel, there really is only one choice in Surfers Paradise and that is Paradise Resort.

The other alternative, is Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa, but it only has limited facilties. At least they have a go! Other than that, the best you will get is the kids under 12 eat free deal at Holiday Inn.

Paradise Resort with Kids Club

Full marks to 4 star (self-rated) Paradise Resort Surfers Paradise with an amazing kids club and kids entertainment zone for babies and toddlers right through to 12 year olds. It gets my top vote as one of the most kid friendly hotels in Surfers Paradise.

This resort underwent a transformation during 2011 with significant redevelopment and refurbishment including a completely new wet play areas tha included 2 waterparks, lagoon pool and spa.

As well as the kids club, the resort has probably the most family friendly room configurations. It reminds me of the european hotels I've stayed in, where they have small rooms off the main bedrom with bunk beds in for the kids. It helps to give parents privacy.

The kids club at Paradise Resort is open every day of the year regardless of whether it is school holidays or not.

Zone 4 Kids club offers 2 supervised sessions daily to keep the kids entertained.

Some packages at Paradise Resort include kids zone sessions in the price.

This whole resort is geared around the kids, with 2 water park areas and lagoon pool plus the 7 room themed entertainment zone (Zone 4 Kids) and lots more.

If you have been to this resport in previous years you will find it significantly upgraded from its previous basic 3½ star version. The new owners Zagames appear to be making changes to bring the resort up to standard and it is certainly worth reconsidering. If you are after a proper kids club with structured activities each day to keep them happy and even motivated to be a part of the kids club then Paradise Resort is your spot! Definitely one of the most kid friendly hotels in Surfers Paradise.

Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort and Spa - Kids Club Options

Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort and Spa also has a kids club that caters for children from 3 to 14 years. It is a small facility that has limited resources and space and is on demand only, they don't actually man it daily.

They will run three sessions daily, but you need to give them a few hours notice. There must be 2 or more children booked in. If you have children that are quite different in their ages and therefore their needs, they probably won't have the most enjoyable time.

In the warmer months and with your permission, they may get to go to the fabulous Marriott swimming pools for a play and a swim, but that will be dependent upon circumstances.

We had a similar situation when we attended a conference in a resort in the Sunshine Coast with a similar facility. Our children are 6 years different in age. The older one was bored out of her mind as they catered for the younger one and left the big one to entertain herself with nintendos and other electronic games.

At $45 per 3 hour session, this so called kids club is quite a disappointment for such a large and prestigious hotel. You certainly wouldn't go with the intention of putting your children in the kids club very much. Consider it more to be a child minding service rather than a kids club.

They don't have nearly the same facilities that Paradise Resort has, but I guess at least they try to be one of the kid friendly hotels in Surfers!
