Melbourne or Gold Coast in January
by Sazali
We are looking at either Melbourne or Gold Coast. Which place to chose? Annie Answers That is a tricky one to try to chose between Melbourne and Gold Coast for a holiday. If you want a golden beach holiday, surfing, theme parks and holiday attractions then Gold Coast wins hands down. The Gold Coast is designed for holidays and is where many Australians go to holiday. Gold Coast is very busy during January as it is Australian Summer holidays for all the schools and many families holiday in the Gold Coast at this time. The weather is hot and humid which does not suit everyone, but is great if you want to go to the beach or water theme parks. On the other hand, if you are after less humid weather, sightseeing, shopping and great food then Melbourne wins hands down. Melbourne is much more of a city that offers a great destination, rather than a holiday city. There are beaches in Melbourne, but they are no where near as appealing as Gold Coast and there are no theme parks, but some great attractions such as the Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Park, Scienceworks Museum and tours of the MCG - Melbourne Cricket Ground. Food is fantastic in Melbourne as there is a high European population so a big influence for Italian food. Shopping is also great in Melbourne at places such as Chapel Street and Bridge Street in Richmond. There are reasons to chose either, it just depends what you are looking for. I lived in Melbourne for 11 years and I love it, but it is very different from Gold Coast. Depending upon how much time you have, maybe you could consider having some time in each place to get the best of both worlds! I hope that helps. Use the comment form if you have any more questions.
