Summer Holiday Gold Coast

Where are you going on your summer holiday this year? Gold Coast Australia?

The Gold Coast in south east Queensland is defenitely a popular destination for a summer break or vacation.

First things first...

When is summer in the Gold Coast?

As far as the seasons go officially Summer in the Gold Coast is December, January and February.

However, being a good old English girl and being obsessed with sunshine and good weather.... As far as I am concerned Summer starts around mid September and runs right through to April! Anyone care to disagree?

And then we run into our glorious winter on the Gold Coast - which is still shorts and t-shirts weather on the beach for most of the time!

Summer and Winter on Gold Coast

As a sidebar, I thought I would just clear this one up!

To be fair, I have lived in Australia for more than 20 years and I am still hardwired to think that May, June, July and August are Summer and if it is still hot and sunny in September then that's an Indian Summer... whilst November, December, January and February are Winter!

In Australia (and the Gold Coast), our winter months are officially June, July and August. Australian Summer months are December, January and February...

Does that help? Your summer is our winter! Your winter is our summer...

You see the Gold Coast is pretty much a year round destination! You can have a summer holiday in the Gold Coast pretty much any time of the year.

Seriously, what makes the Gold Coast such a great destination for a summer holiday?

If you are looking for sea, sand, sun and surf, then you are part way there.

The Gold Coast also has a range of fabulous theme parks and water theme parks.

Check out our amazing range of thrill rides, shows and more at Dreamworld, WhiteWater World, MovieWorld, Sea World and Wet n Wild.

Plus a host of other attractions and activities to keep you busy.

On your summer holiday what do you like to do? There is so much do in and around the Gold Coast like:

  • see Australian Animals - cuddle a koala or feed kangaroos
  • walk through rainforest
  • dive on wrecks
  • snorkel with turtles
  • climb Mt Warning
  • eat tropical fruit
  • visit Byron Bay
  • learn to surf
  • swim in the ocean
  • build sandcastles
  • laze by a resort pool and lots lots more...

Now you can start to see why the Gold Coast is my pick! The Gold Coast is an easy place to take your summer break. With plenty to keep couples, singles and families occupied.

The Gold Coast has a range of accommodation which makes it ideal as a summer holiday destination.

Some people like to drive to Gold Coast, bring their tents, caravans or campervans and enjoy the great holiday parks or caravan parks.

I get quite jealous as the Holiday Parks in the Gold Coast have some of the best locations around. Sometimes they are waterfront and there aren't many waterfront accommodation options in the Gold Coast!

Another option for families is the incredible number of self catering apartments. There are a variety of styles to suit most budgets and tastes.

Surfers Paradise has the biggest selection of holiday apartments, but you can also find a selection in Coolangatta, Burleigh, Broadbeach and Main Beach as well as many of the other Gold Coast suburbs.

So there's an introduction to summer holiday fun on the Gold Coast. From here you can firstly...
