Swimming and Beaches in October on the Gold Coast
by Yash
ANSWER October is a spring month on the Gold Coast. The weather is usually warm, great time for the beach. October average temperatures are 15 to 25 degrees Centigrade with historic extremes being 5 to 39 degrees... So how warm will it be? I cannot say exactly, but in general it is a warm month. The average Gold Coast sea temperature in October is around 20 degrees Centigrade. We don't get box jellyfish in the Gold Coast, so unless there are marine stingers, which doesn't happen a lot, you can usually swim. We go to the beach year round and you can swim in the water even in the winter! Like anywhere the weather can be changeable, and the best way to prepare for that is to bring layers. I also recommend something for rain, just in case. If you think you might feel the cold, make sure you have a warmer jacket or jumper for the cooler or windy days. If you plan to go into the mountains, you will need something a little warmer as it does get cooler up there. I am not sure how those temperatures stack up relative to where you are coming from, you may find it cooler or warmer than you are used to, so make sure you factor that in when packing your suitcases.
