Whales in Paradise
Whale Watching Gold Coast

On the Whales in Paradise tour you might see a whale tail or even more!
On a Whales in Paradise tour you might
see a whale tail or even more!

Quick Facts

Whales in Paradise are the only Gold Coast whale watching tour that leaves from the heart of Surfers Paradise for their half day whale watching tour aboard their new (in 2008) 15m catamaran Mahi Mahi.

Tours depart twice daily during the whale watching season from June to November.

The morning cruise is from 9.00am to 12.30pm.

The sunset or afternoon cruise is from 2.00pm to 5.30pm.

Departure is from the Surfers Paradise Jetty at the western end of Cavill Mall.  The jetty is to be found between Appel Park and the Vibe Hotel, near the Titanium bar at 42 Ferny Avenue.

You need to be at the jetty about half an hour before the tour departs.

Pre-book your tours, especially during school holidays as the the whale watching tour fill up quickly and this tour only takes 60 passengers.

Brisbane transfers are also available for this tour.

About This Gold Coast Whale Watching Tour Operator

Whales in Paradise has a new 15m catamaran called the Mahi Mahi which was commissioned in 2008.  This boat is probably the smallest of the Gold Coast whale watching boats.

They say it was designed specifically for whale watching including some features to make the passengers trip more pleasant and to ensure the safety of the whales.

There is 360 degree viewing including the bow and their unique water level viewing platform.

They also offer Brisbane transfers.

Review of this Gold Coast Whale Watching Tour

This tour is convenient if you are staying in a Surfers Paradise.  You may be able to walk to the jetty to catch this trip depending upon where you are staying - which will save you on transfers or taxis.

If you drive, you will have to park and pay in either Chevron or Circle on Cavill - so it is better if you can walk!

My main comment about their boat is that it is the smallest of the whale watching tour boats from the Gold Coast. You may experience more "motion" than in the other boats.

If there is any reason why this might bother you - I would recommend you consider one of the other tour operators on the Gold Coast.

On your cruise your crew will point out interesting architecture and houses of the Gold Coast's rich and famous, whilst you navigate the canals and Nerang River to the Broadwater.

They claim this to be the longest whale watching tour on the coast, the reality is you won't spend any more time with the whales on this tour, it's just that you have to go further to see the whales! But they call that a bonus cruise!  Actually the cruise through the canals can be interesting if you are a new visitor to the Gold Coast.

They guarantee sightings or you can return on a free cruise, and they claim to have 100% sighting record. I cannot verify that.

The good thing about this tour is that if you are in Brisbane you can still enjoy this tour plus some time in Surfers Paradise.  The tour price from Brisbane includes the transfers making this is a good value option to see the whales from Brisbane.

Don't forget to pre-book your Whales in Paradise tour either from Surfers or including transfers from Brisbane
