Which Gold Coast Theme Park To Visit First On 7 Day Visit

Our family party of 13 is coming to GoldCoast for 7 days in late August.

We plan to visit all the theme parks and Australia Zoo.

Which of the Gold Coast attractions would you recommend us visit first? And what type of pass should we purchase?

Assuming you want to do all the Gold Coast theme parks and Australia Zoo - you are going to be very busy.

I'll go through a few options below.

The Gold Coast theme parks are:

  • Dreamworld and Whitewater World - owned by one company and therefore have deals together plus they offer family tickets (2 Adults plus 2 children aged between 3 and 13 years)

  • Sea World, Movie World and Wet n Wild - owned by another company that offer various passes and ticket combinations (Super Passes, Escape Passes and other promotions such as VIP Passes when available)

Each park will take you a day, with the exception of WhiteWater World which is probably a half day. And Australia Zoo is definitely a whole day trip because it is on the Sunshine Coast and takes about 2 hours by coach or car each way.

If you want to miss out the water parks you will still be fairly busy with 4 full days to cover Sea World, Movie World, Dreamworld and a day trip to Australia Zoo.

I am not sure when you arrive and depart on the 1st and 7th day, so assuming you cannot go to anything those days, you will have 5 full days to go to the these Gold Coast attractions.

It will depend upon the ages of the children you are travelling with, you may need to pace yourself, or you may be able to handle back to back theme parks.

SeaWorld is the most gentle of the theme parks and would be great for a gentle introduction to your holiday or as a "rest" day!

DreamWorld probably will have you busy from opening to closing time and you will cover alot of ground, so make sure you are ready for that. MovieWorld is probably the middle ground.

Australia Zoo itself has a lot to see, but mostly watching shows and looking at animals, so the hard part on young children is the journey up and back.

Unfortunately there is no single deal that includes Australia Zoo, DreamWorld, Sea World and Movie World as they belong to different companies.

DreamWorld Options
Dreamworld and its water park - Whitewater World have single entry tickets, 1 Day World Passes, Holiday World Passes (usually 7 or 21 days unlimited entry to both theme parks) and Annual style World Passes.

Some of the deals include entry to SkyPoint Observation deck, and the options change from time to time, so it is best to check out the Latest Gold Coast Theme Park Deals.

Family Passes where they exist are for 2 Adults and 2 children - children are classified as 3 years to 13 years inclusive, under 3s are free and over 13s are adults. Depending upon the make up of your family group you may need to purchase extra tickets for children aged between 3 and 13 years or maybe you have older children who are classed as an adult and therefore buy more than one family pass.

You can pre-purchase your DreamWorld Passes and Tickets.

SeaWorld and MovieWorld Passes and Tickets
SeaWorld, MovieWorld and Wet n Wild are owned by the same company and they have combination passes covering the three theme parks. Unfortunately, they do not have any family deals.

There are quite a few options ranging from single day tickets, 3 day, 7 day or 21 day passes that allows you entry to the three Gold Coast theme parks. There are usually VIP passes which offer unlimited entry to all three parks until a specific date (30 June each year).

Whilst single entry tickets have different pricing for Adult, Pensioner (Australia and New Zealand only) and child (3 to 13 years inclusive), for most passes they are all the same price. There are so many options you are bound to find a fantastic deal with great savings for the multiple parks.

Australia Zoo Options
You can buy Australia Zoo tickets and there are options for family 4 (2A + 2C) or Family 5 (2A + 3C) and their child ages are 3 to 14 years. These are just the tickets so you will either have to drive yourself up to the Sunshine Coast or else look at the option below for transfers.

If you want to go on a tour that will give you 6 hours at Australia Zoo then Australia Zoo Tour might be a great way to enjoy the zoo whilst letting someone else worry about getting you there. There are family options for this too that offer a bit of a discount. Remember this does not include Australia Zoo entry tickets, so check out the latest options for that here.

I know I have covered rather a lot, I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions by leaving a comment below so that I can try to answer them for you.
Cheers
