Indy Carnival Dates

What are the dates for the Gold Coast Indy Carnival?

Gold Coast Indy Carnival has not been running since 2008. From 2010 we have had the Super V8s or V8 Super Cars for the Gold Coast 600 race.

As well as a change to the name the motor sport carnival now only runs for 3 days from the Friday to Sunday, with the qualifying races on the Friday and Saturday and the big race on Sunday.

Previously, Indy ran from Thursday to Sunday. There are still lots of support races and entertainment and there is increasing interest from overseas with more international drivers being lured over to drive on the streets of paradise again!

The track has been shortened and it now is mostly in Main Beach and only a little part of Surfers Paradise. The disadvantage of this move is that there is much less trackside accommodation, which is probably better for the organisers as there is less trouble on the balconies (ruining our reputations ;-)) and they probably get more people coming into the Grandstands and watching beside the tracks.

I have a little more information about the new Gold Coast 600. You will find out a bit more about what is going on and I try to update them periodically.

As I mentioned above, the Gold Coast 600 is not exactly the same as it is only the Australian V8 Super Cars racing plus supporting races. No open wheelers (no Indy cars) as the big event, however, the format is similar. It runs over 3 days (not 4 like before), with lots of supporting acts and entertainment and it is based around the streets of northern Surfers Paradise and southern Main Beach.

Tickets are usually on sale through Ticketek.

Hope that helps with your planning. If you have any more questions, or you found that helpful, please leave a comment.
