Cheapest Way To Get Around Gold Coast

What is the cheapest transportation facilities in Gold Coast Australia?

The cheapest way to get around the Gold Coast sort of depends upon a few things.

  • Where you want to get to and from?

  • How much you are going to be travelling?

  • Who you are travelling with - single person, couple or family?
Within the Gold Coast there are some buses but as yet no trains (light rail coming in a few years) that serve the tourist zones.

Buses are the obvious choice for singles but are certainly not the fastest most efficient way to get around. Add to that they aren't the easiest to work out where to catch them, when they go and which bus you need to catch! The best option is to try this journey planner.

There are also shuttle buses and transfers to take you to the main theme parks. These shuttles only pickk up from the registered accommodation in Gold Coast from Coolangatta to Runaway Bay. If you are staying in a private home or holiday rental or in the northern suburbs such as Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove, then you'll have to find other ways to get to the theme parks and attractions.

If you are bringing your family, there are options that include airport transfers, theme park transfers and bus passes that are a great option called Gold and Freedom Passes.

Or hiring a car may end up being a better option especially when there are a few people to travel. You can hire it from the airport and return when you leave, or you can hire locally within Gold Coast near where you are staying.

I hope I have answered your question, even though I wasn't exactly sure of the details. Please let me know if you have any more questions or if you need anything explained in more detail.
