Good buys and just relaxing in Gold Coast

We are retired and just want to relax and get good buys for a holiday in Gold Coast. Is May a good time?
May can be a great time to visit the Gold Coast because the weather is still often quite warm (remember that is relative to where you are travelling from) and there are no major Australian school holidays during that period so it is relatively quiet.
During May there is one public holiday - Queensland Labour Day, usually the first monday in May - this makes a long weekend so that time can be a little busier.
So, overall May can be a fantastic time to visit the Gold Coast because there are less school age children around and there are usually some great accommodation deals especially in places like Surfers Paradise, Main Beach and Broadbeach, it just depends what you are looking for.
