Just about everywhere you go on the Gold Coast someone is trying to sell you tickets to Dreamworld. So where to get the best deal?
Sometimes you can waste a lot of time looking for the best deal and all you save is a couple of dollars.
The information on theme park tickets and ticket pricing changes so I have kept it general but useful.
|
If you already know what you want you can buy your Dreamworld theme park tickets directly from the official Dreamworld ticketing website.
Locals Versus Visitors - Is The Price The Same?
|
Dreamworld admission for visitors is mostly the same as for locals.
However, there are some Dreamworld coupons or discounts from time to time that only locals can use.
For example there was a PlayPass for local parents accompanying children under 4 years of age for Tuesdays and Thursdays until December 2009.
These deals are less common now we have unlimited entry passes and annual passes. |
If
you do find or see a Dreamworld discount coupon advertised they usually have
restrictions. Most often they are restricted to certain local
residential postcodes from around Gold Coast and Tweed areas only.
You will have to prove your residential address using something like
your drivers licence.
If you are visiting the Gold Coast and find a great looking deal on the
back of
your shopping docket, read the fine print! Or if you find a
great deal on Ebay - check the seller's feedback to find out if these
are useable items! And if you see an advertisement with a large discount offered it is most likely with these kinds of restrictions.
For
locals Dreamworld coupons can be great savings although they are
generally only available for use outside school holidays. We have used
these ourselves to buy our Dreamworld tickets! But if you like this
park, then the pass options offer the greatest savings and flexibility.
Dreamworld
Discount Tickets
Dreamworld doesn't usually discount their tickets for visitors except for
pensioners (Australian and NZ Residents with ID only), children, disabled visitors and their carers.
I prefer to book online ahead of time to save time in the queues on
entry and sometimes some of the special options can only be booked
online, like the Animal
Adventures tiger cub experience.
Prepaid Dreamworld tickets are usually valid for a certain time.
Do
check this,
as
the price of Dreamworld tickets does change usually once a year and you
don't want to get caught out.
Peak & Off Peak Tickets for Dreamworld
In December 2009, Dream World introduced peak and off peak tickets. But they scrapped this in subsequent years in favour of the unlimited entry passes. It was probably too complicated to administer. They have certainly been looking to simplify their theme park entry tickets!
Dreamworld
Passes
DreamWorld and WhiteWater World Passes have been undergoing an overhaul! I think they are trying to make it simpler... let's hope so. I'll try to cover the main points here!
Dreamworld and White Water World are both owned by Macquarie Leisure. Passes involve either returns to
each park individually or a combination of the two parks.
Since I think you cannot do Dreamworld justice in one day, I would have
to say that getting a pass that allows you to return is a great option.
The options are:
- Dreamworld
Tickets - one day tickets for adults, children (3 to 13 years) and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only). Please Note: As of August 2011 the Family & Friends pass option for day tickets is no longer available.
- White
Water World Tickets - one day tickets for adults, children (3 to 13 years) and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only). Please Note: As of August 2011 the Family & Friends pass option for day tickets is no longer available.
- World
Pass Tickets - 1 day option only. Covers both Dreamworld
and White Water World you can hop between the parks. Tickets for for adults, children (3 to 13 years) and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only). Please Note: As of August 2011 the 2 Day World Pass is no longer available - consider Holiday World Pass instead.
- Holiday World Pass - 21 days unlimited entry to both
Dreamworld and White Water World. Tickets available for adults, children (3yrs to 13yrs)and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only) AND a Family options with savings for 2 Adults PLUS 2 Children. Remember children under 3 are free, but children over 13 are adult prices. If you
are planning on going to both parks during your holiday or plan to go back to Dreamworld more than once this is a great option. It is also available to any visitor to the Gold Coast.
- Family
and Friends World Passes - As of August 2011, the only Family Discount Pass available is for a Holiday World Pass - see above.
- Unlimited Entry World Pass to June 2012 - Unlimited entry
to Dreamworld and Whitewater World theme parks until 22 June 2012. Available for Australian or New Zealand residents only with tickets types of adults, children (3 to 13 years) and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only). Conditions apply.
- Unlimited Entry World Pass to June 2013 - Unlimited entry
to Dreamworld and Whitewater World theme parks until 21 June 2013. Available for Australian or New Zealand residents only with tickets types of adults, children (3 to 13 years) and seniors (Australian and NZ pensioners with ID only). Conditions apply.

Which
Dreamworld Gold Coast Tickets to Buy?
If
you are only want to go to DreamWorld for a day, then buy either a single park entry ticket or a one day World Pass that will get you into both DreamWorld and Whitewater World for one day.
If you are visiting Gold Coast and plan to go to Dreamworld more than once or Dreamworld and Whitewater World then the new Holiday Pass is great value, especially for adults and families.

|
If you are a regular visitor to the Gold Coast and are a resident of either Australia or NZ then you might want to consider one of the other World Pass options that cover unlimited entry to both parks to either June 2011 or June 2012.
Dreamworld and WhiteWater World Passes are not valid at the
other Gold Coast theme parks of Sea
World, Wet n Wild and MovieWorld.
