Just about everywhere you go on the Gold Coast someone is trying to sell you tickets to Dreamworld. So where to get the best deal?
Sometimes you can waste a lot of time looking for the best deal and all you save is a couple of dollars.
The information on theme park tickets and ticket pricing changes so I have kept it general but useful.
|
If you already know what you want you can buy your Dreamworld theme park tickets directly from the official Dreamworld ticketing website.
Locals Versus Visitors - Is The Price The Same?
|
Dreamworld admission for visitors is the same as for locals.
However, there are some Dreamworld coupons or discounts from time to time that only locals can use.
For example there was a PlayPass for local parents accompanying children under 4 years of age for Tuesdays and Thursdays until December 2009. You need to check for these kinds of deals.
If
you do find or see a Dreamworld discount coupon advertised they usually have
restrictions. Most often they are restricted to certain local
residential postcodes from around Gold Coast and Tweed areas only.
You will have to prove your residential address using something like
your drivers licence. |
If you are visiting the Gold Coast and find a great looking deal on the
back of
your shopping docket, read the fine print! Or if you find a
great deal on Ebay - check the seller's feedback to find out if these
are useable items! And if you see an advertisement with a large discount offered it is most likely with these kinds of restrictions.
For
locals Dreamworld coupons can be great savings although they are
generally only available for use outside school holidays. We have used
these ourselves to buy our Dreamworld tickets! But if you like this
park, then the pass options offer the greatest savings and flexibility.
Dreamworld
Discount Tickets
Dreamworld doesn't usually discount their tickets for visitors except for
pensioners (Australian and NZ Residents with ID only), children, disabled visitors and their carers.
I prefer to book online ahead of time to save time in the queues on
entry and sometimes some of the special options can only be booked
online, like the Animal
Adventures tiger cub experience.
Prepaid Dreamworld tickets are usually valid for a certain time.
Do
check this,
as
the price of Dreamworld tickets does change usually once a year and you
don't want to get caught out.
Peak & Off Peak Tickets for Dreamworld
From December 2009, Dream World have introduced peak and off peak tickets.
The peak tickets are approximately $2 per person more than off peak prices. Peak tickets are valid from 26 December 2009 to 26 January 2010 inclusive.
Off peak tickets are valid at all times except 26 December 2009 to 26 January 2010 inclusive.
I assume this will continue annually during these dates as they are both significant dates in Australia! Boxing Day to Australia Day each year.
Should you arrive at the park with pre-purchased tickets that are off peak, you will simply be charged the upgrade to peak. Obviously, during 2009 this is a new system, so please check directly on the Dream World website.
Dreamworld
Passes
There
are now so many options for passes it is hard to try to cover them here!
Dreamworld and White Water World are both owned by Macquarie Leisure. Passes involve either returns to
each park individually or a combination of the two parks.
Since I think you cannot do Dreamworld justice in one day, I would have
to say that getting a pass that allows you to return is a great option.
The options are:
- Dreamworld
Tickets - one day tickets for adults, children, seniors and a family and friends pass option for 2 adults and 2 children.
- White
Water World Tickets - one day tickets for adults, children, seniors and a family and friends pass option for 2 adults and 2 children.
- World
Pass Tickets - 1 or 2 day options. Covers both Dreamworld
and White Water World you can hop between the parks. Second day passes
valid for entry up to 14 days after initial entry.
- Family
and Friends World Passes - 2 day option. Covers both
Dreamworld and White Water World for 2 Adults and 2 Children. If you
are planning on going to both parks this offers great savings . Using
September 2008 prices 1 day saving approximately $54 and 2 day saving
approximately $68. For groups of 2A and 2C this is a great
option. Second day passes valid for entry up to 14 days after
initial entry.
- Max
Action Annual Pass - 12 months entry
to Dreamworld. Conditions apply. There are additional benefits.
- Aqua
