Australian Gold Coast Events December
December is a busy month and the first official month of Summer. The weather is very warm to hot and it is very humid. At this time of the year summer storms can occur.
Mid December onwards is the official start to our long summer break. Australian School holidays start around the week before Christmas, although some schools finish up much earlier.
Early December we still have some left over schoolies and schoolies from NSW and Victoria, but generally they keep themselves to themselves and stay around Surfers Paradise.
In terms of general events there are not that many other than Christmas Events and New Year celebrations. Over the last few year a PGA Golf Tournament was added to the Gold Coast events calendar in December.
You will find there are many private end of year and Christmas functions and parties in venues across Gold Coast. Shopping centres are usually very busy, with extended shopping hours in the lead up to Christmas and then with the Boxing Day sales starting on 26 December.
Some of the larger shopping centres have special Christmas displays and may put on entertainment for the children, as well as Santa's Grotos and photo opportunities with the Big Man in Red!
The biggest celebrations and events centre around Christmas and New Years Eve. And there is certainly plenty to choose from starting right from the beginning of the month for the Christmas activities.
Most questions I get asked about in December relate to the weather, travelling with young children and whether there are still schoolies in Surfers Paradise! Check out the Q&A.
As well as the major events, there are events, markets and shows that run throughout the year. You can find more information through these links:
